A memoir of growing up in extreme poverty, it describes her journey from homelessness to graduating with a PhD from Trinity and becoming an award-winning lecturer. Elaine Feeney is a poet, short story writer, and novelist from Galway. She won the Author of the Year Award at the 2025 Irish Book Awards and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize with her novel, How to Build a Boat.
