How Irish mythology and folklore have influenced modern fantasy and horror writing
Ireland has a rich mythology and folkloric tradition that provides great inspiration for contemporary writers and artists. On 11th April in Malahide Library, creatives Shauna Lawless, Kate Dolan and Dave Rudden will discuss the influence Irish myth has had on their work. The panel will be facilitated by Dr Shauna Louise Caffrey, whose areas of research include folklore, mythology, music and gender studies.
Shauna Lawless is the author of the acclaimed Gael trilogy, a fantasy series inspired by the Irish Mythological Cycle. Kate Dolan is an Irish writer-director of horror, whose debut film, You are Not my Mother, was influenced by Irish folklore. Dave Rudden is an award-winning author whose latest book for adults, Sister Wake, is inspired by Irish history and mythology.
