“From the first call, I felt that she was someone very special, and that something clicked between the two of us immediately…As soon as we connected, I would be smiling or laughing, and she was the same on her side.” Sepideh Farsi
Put Your Soul on your Hand and Walk (2025) is a vital record, bearing witness to everyday life, loss, and acts of resistance amid escalating violence. Fatma Hassona used poetry and photography to record the death and devastation she saw daily in Gaza during the ongoing Israeli military campaign. She has such a broad smile and enthusiasm for life that she becomes a compelling presence from the moment she appears on screen. This devastating documentary follows Fatma Hassona through a year of video calls with Sepideh Farsi.
Fatma Hassona was killed in an Israeli airstrike alongside nine members of her family on 16 April 2025, the day after she learned that the film was selected to be screened at Cannes.
